This position requires a suitably qualified and experienced Junior Scientist to coordinate daily research activities, including fieldwork data collection, data quality assurance, and research administration.
The South African Medical Research Council's Gender and Health Research Unit is implementing the Ntombi Vimbela! project involving both quantitative and qualitative research components. This position requires a suitably qualified and experienced Junior Scientist to coordinate daily research activities, including fieldwork data collection, data quality assurance, and research administration.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising research assistants, managing data systems, supporting stakeholder engagement, and contributing to scientific outputs such as manuscripts and policy briefs.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and participate in follow-up quantitative and qualitative data collection and quality control.
Assist with transcription, translation, data cleaning, and coding.
Maintain research material inventories, participant records, and ethics documentation.
Manage participant communications, scheduling, tracking, and reimbursements
Supervise research assistants and report on their performance.
Support preparation of scientific manuscripts, policy briefs, and presentations.
Contribute to dissemination activities, including academic and stakeholder events.

Remuneration
R30 805.75 per month (cost-to-company
Job Requirements
4-year Honours degree in Social Sciences or related field
Minimum 2 years' research experience, including project coordination and small team management.
Advantageous
Enrolment in master's degree in social sciences, Public Health or other related fields advantageous
1 years' experience with quantitative and qualitative research.
1 year working in the gender-based violence field of study.
