Job Description

Pele Energy Group seeks a Junior Researcher to implement its qualitative and quantitative research projects.
The Role
The purpose of the role is to manage research projects by ensuring that data is collected in accordance with the project's design and stored accordingly. In addition, the junior researcher is required to identify, train and manage teams of field enumerators. Central to the role is the ability to analyse and report on both quantitative and qualitative data.
Requirements
Research Project Management

  • Identify, Recruit and Train community data collectors remotely/ in person.
  • Manage contracts and performance.
  • Deliver all research materials to data collectors timeously.
  • Manage data collectors through a system of daily check-ins.
  • Verify data collected on a daily basis to avoid fraudulent data.
  • Ensure that all data is received and filed in original format.
  • Solicit feedback to improve the logistics and content of data collected.
  • Manage the payments for research projects assigned to role.
Data Management
  • File all original project data electronically, in clearly labelled folders.
  • Collate data in relevant formats depending on the nature of the study.
  • Ensure that all data is analysis-ready.
Data Analysis
  • Analyse all data related to projects assigned to role.
  • Ensure that results are labelled/ explained.
  • Compile quarterly reports summarising key findings of research projects especially with respect to energy communities.
Report Writing & Presentation
  • Complete initial collection and write-up of desktop studies that replicate established methodologies in Pele.
  • Compile reports of relevant data per format/ content guidelines agreed with line manager.
  • Prepare presentations linked to reports.
  • Present reports as and when required to.
Train
  • Train data collectors, research assistants and analysts on relevant project work.
Ad-hoc functions
  • Avail themselves for ad-hoc functions, including travelling to remote parts of the country to address project issues.
  • Support the team in advancing broader objectives, which will include participating, from time to time, in projects outside of job profile.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
  • Honours Degree: B average minimum, A average ideal
  • 2 Years Experience in: Research/ Project management/ management consulting/ community development
  • English: speak & write
  • Other Spoken South African languages: 1 minimum; 2+ ideal
  • Driver's License
