Position Overview



Sanlam Fintech (SFT) is looking to fill the role of a Junior Product Designer, reporting into the Head of Design. As part of the central Digital Product & Design function within SFT, the role will be responsible for designing key parts of the product experience of SFT's digital products and channels. The role will support relevant stakeholders, leveraging innovative design outcomes to give customers confidence during any digital engagements and experiences of their financial services.

What will you do?



As a Junior Product Designer, you will be expected to:

Craft and Execution


Use and apply, current and relevant, design methodologies, tools, frameworks, and practices to solve for, and design experiences that enable and support Sanlam's customers. Define interactions and services based on relevant business, technical, and design considerations. Participate in user research and usability testing to ensure validated design solutions, capture insights and testing data and package results for distribution and present in feedback sessions Deliver effective UX and Interaction Design solutions within various projects.


Project and Team


Make design ideas tangible for the cross-functional product team and stakeholders through visual storytelling, UX and interaction design techniques. Present, explain and discuss design decisions eloquently. Execute product design tasks and maintain a high quality of deliverables. Collaborate with UX team members including other UX disciplines, Service Designers, BA's, Product Managers and other stakeholders to understand objectives and key business outcomes, user needs and behaviours to inform the design solutioning. Collaborate with Developers, Product teams, the Design System team, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that final product delivery is representative of the most feasible and preferred design solution.

Qualifications and Experience


A relevent qualification in Product Design At least two months of experience in the discipline of Product Design across varied customer personas, business problems, and devices, including mobile. Exposure in UX design for mobile is required Exposure in designing for financial products and markets

What will make you successful in this role?


Knowledge in driving and applying user-centred design processes and practices to develop new products and services. Experience using design system components and patterns consistently. Knowledge of rapid prototyping methods, ranging from paper sketching to digital prototypes. Knowledge of and curiosity about technology and its impact on design solutions. Knowledge of the process in conducting user research and capturing user insights using qualitative and quantitative methods
