Job Description

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented

Junior Graphic Designer

to join our in-house Marketing team at our Midrand HQ. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging designer who is eager to grow, learn, and contribute to meaningful visual work that supports the entire organisation.


The ideal candidate has a passion for design, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to translate ideas into clean, impactful visual assets. You will work closely with our Marketing team while collaborating with multiple departments, ensuring every piece of work aligns with ikeja's Corporate Identity, brand tone and visual standards. From social media and digital content to internal materials and on-the-ground campaigns, you'll play a key role in shaping how our brand shows up, both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities



Internal Brand & Communication Assets



Design internal materials such as: + presentations + posters
+ internal notices
+ training guides
+ reports
+ infographics
+ internal campaign assets
Support all operational departments with branded internal documents.

Public-Facing Creativity



Develop creative assets for: + social media + website content
+ product marketing
+ events and activations
+ flyers, brochures, and printed collateral

Brand & CI Enforcement



Apply ikeja's Corporate Identity guidelines across all materials. Ensure consistency in typography, colours, layouts, spacing, and tone. Maintain and develop internal templates, asset libraries and brand templates.

Department Support



Fulfil design requests from multiple departments with varying deadlines. Collaborate with Marketing on campaigns, launches and initiatives. Work closely with the People team for internal communication design.

Requirements



Graphic Design qualification or certificate (from a recognised design institution). Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically: + Adobe Illustrator + Photoshop
+ InDesign
+ After Effects or Premiere Pro is a bonus
+ Canva

Experience



1-2 years of design experience, which may include internships, freelance work, part-time roles, or academic projects. Proven experience producing design work for digital platforms, such as social media posts, banners, ads, or website graphics. Experience creating print-ready materials such as posters, flyers, brochures, or presentation templates. Exposure to working with brand guidelines or following an established CI. Experience managing multiple design tasks or requests at once, even in a university, freelance, or small-business context. Experience collaborating with others on creative or administrative tasks (e.g., group projects, team briefs, marketing initiatives). Ability to take a design brief and deliver polished, professional outputs. Strong portfolio demonstrating creativity, attention to detail, and ability to produce clean, modern design work.

Nice-to-have (advantageous):



Experience with basic motion graphics or simple video editing. Experience designing for diverse communities or township markets. Experience working with a marketing team or cross-functional teams. Exposure to corporate or organisational communication design.

each day. Must be able to work from our

Midrand HQ

on a full-time, in-office basis.

Technical Competencies



Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Competence in digital design for social media, website graphics, and online marketing. Strong layout design skills, including hierarchy, spacing, and alignment. Understanding of print design requirements such as bleed, file setup, colour profiles, and export settings. Strong portfolio demonstrating clean, modern design work. Basic motion graphics abilities using After Effects or Canva video tools.

Brand and CI competencies



Ability to apply and enforce Corporate Identity guidelines across all materials.

Workflow and delivery competencies



Reliability in meeting deadlines and following briefs accurately. Ability to maintain and update design templates, brand libraries, and internal assets.

Collaboration competencies



Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and adapting to diverse needs. Sensitivity to township market contexts and diverse audience needs (only if it's genuinely central).
