The Junior Operations Coordinator will support the planning, coordination, and execution of wind turbine component handling at port, storage, and transport to site. The role provides hands-on exposure to heavy-lift logistics, port operations, abnormal load transport, and site delivery activities within wind energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
Port & Terminal Operations
Assist in coordinating vessel discharge operations for wind turbine components (blades, towers, nacelles, hubs).
Support supervision of stevedoring, lifting, and rigging activities in line with approved method statements.
Monitor cargo condition, tallying, and damage reporting during discharge and handling.
Assist with coordination of laydown areas, stacking plans, and cargo segregation.
Ensure port safety, access control, and operational compliance.
Transport & Logistics Coordination
Support planning and scheduling of abnormal load transport from port to site.
Assist in coordinating transport contractors, escort vehicles, and route surveys.
Monitor truck movements, delivery sequences, and turnaround times.
Support management of standing time, delays, and daily transport reports.
Assist with permit tracking and compliance (abnormal load permits, police escorts).
Site Delivery Support
Assist with coordination of offloading activities at site laydown areas.
Support interface between transport contractors, crane suppliers, and site teams.
Monitor adherence to delivery schedules and installation priorities.
Assist with site logistics planning and material flow control.
Documentation & Reporting
Assist in maintaining daily operational logs and progress reports.
Support preparation of method statements, lifting plans, and transport plans.
Assist with cost tracking related to transport, handling, and delays.
Maintain accurate project records, permits, and correspondence.
Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with port authorities, stevedores, transporters, crane companies, and client representatives.
Support communication between operations, commercial, and HSE teams.
Escalate operational risks and delays to the Operations Manager.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree / National Diploma in: Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Mechanical / Industrial Engineering, Maritime Studies (advantageous)
Strong organisational and planning skills
Good communication
High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Basic understanding of logistics and transport principles
Willingness to work extended hours, and on-site rotations
Strong safety awareness and compliance mindset
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
0-2 years' experience (graduate / entry-level role).
Exposure to logistics, port operations, construction, or renewable energy projects is advantageous.
