Junior Irrigation Manager - SwellendamFull job descriptionJunior Irrigation ManagerAn established family-owned Citrus growing operation situated 5km from Swellendam is looking for a Junior Irrigation Manager. The role is crucial in ensuring efficient and effective use of water resources for the cultivation of citrus crops. You will work closely with the senior management team to oversee the irrigation systems, monitor water usage, and implement strategies to optimize irrigation practices. This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development in the agricultural industry.Key Responsibilities1. Irrigation System Managementxc2xb7 Assist in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of irrigation systems, including drip, sprinkler, and micro-sprinkler systems.xc2xb7 Monitor irrigation schedules and adjust as necessary based on weather conditions, crop requirements, and soil moisture levels.xc2xb7 Conduct regular inspections of irrigation infrastructure to identify and address any issues promptly.2. Water Managementxc2xb7 Monitor water usage and ensure compliance with regulations and sustainability practices.xc2xb7 Implement water-saving techniques and technologies to minimize water waste and optimize water efficiency.xc2xb7 Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement water management plans aligned with farm objectives and environmental stewardship.3. Data Analysis and Reportingxc2xb7 Collect data on irrigation performance, water usage, and crop responses.xc2xb7 Analyse data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to optimize irrigation practices.xc2xb7 Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to the management team.4.
