Duties:

• Monitor real-time security alerts and logs using SIEM tools and escalate anomalies.
• Assist with security incident investigation and tracking, supporting containment and remediation.
• Conduct vulnerability scans on internal systems and support patch management processes.
• Maintain and improve documentation related to security processes, playbooks, and policies.
• Support phishing simulation programs, user awareness campaigns, and basic training initiatives.
• Help conduct access reviews and audits aligned with internal controls and regulatory expectations.
• Track and research emerging threats and vulnerability disclosures to inform security posture.
• Collaborate with IT infrastructure and support teams to ensure secure system configurations.

Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Diploma or degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Foundational certifications preferred, such as CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CC (Certified in Cybersecurity), or Microsoft SC-900.

Experience:

• 0 2 years of experience in a security analyst, IT support, or infrastructure-related role.
• Exposure to Windows and Linux environments, with understanding of system-level security basics.
• Experience using or studying tools such as antivirus platforms, firewalls, endpoint protection, or SIEM solutions.

Skills & Competencies:

• Good understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA triad).
• Basic grasp of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Analytical and methodical mindset for investigating alerts and anomalies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for reporting and documentation.
• Self-driven with the ability to manage time across multiple tasks and priorities.
• Eagerness to grow technically and stay informed on new security trends and certifications.
