We are seeking a Junior Controller to support our cafe's internal accounting, financial reporting, and operational analysis functions. You will have strong VAT knowledge, and you will be responsible for processing daily, weekly and monthly financial transactions, ensuring VAT compliance, accurate reconciliations and proper expense coding. This role ensures the accuracy of financial data, assists with budgeting and forecasting, and helps maintain internal controls and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
General Bookkeeping & Financial Management
Manage
accounts payable
and
accounts receivable
processes.
Process
payroll
and ensure compliance with
SARS e-filing
and tax legislation.
Prepare
monthly and annual financial statements
(balance sheet, income, and cash flow).
Process vendor and supplier invoices and ensure proper coding, approvals, and payments.
Ensure all documents comply with SARS requirements
Prepare and compile weekly supplier payment batches for review
Prepare monthly supplier payment batches by reconciling supplier statements and submitting for review.
Manage check runs and electronic disbursements.
Restaurant Accounting
Record daily POS sales, tips, and reconcile with deposits.
Track inventory purchases and manage reporting.
Process payroll, including tips and tax filings.
Handle vendor invoices and payments.
Produce monthly profit and loss reports for the cafe.
Core Competencies

Communicate with vendors and cafe suppliers regarding payments.
Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems.
Support ownership and management with ad-hoc financial analysis.
Minimum Requirements
Diploma or Degree in
Accounting / Finance
2-3 years' relevant accounting experience.
Experience in restaurant/cafe industry preferred.
