Responsibilities:

As a Junior Buyer at Carrol Boyes, your responsibilities will include:

• Market Analysis: Assist the buying team in researching market trends, analysing consumer demands, and evaluating competitive pricing to make well-informed purchasing decisions.
• Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with vendors to gather product information, negotiate pricing, and oversee order placement and delivery, ensuring seamless transactions.
• Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, working closely with other teams to compile essential data on stock levels, product descriptions, and pricing details.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams such as marketing and sales to coordinate effective product launches, promotions, and sales campaigns.
• Supplier Relations: Assist the product developer in communicating with factories and suppliers, ensuring smooth operations and product quality.
• Project Management: Support project planning and time management, tracking production processes from start to finish to maintain supplier timelines.
• Purchase Orders: Help create purchase orders, track invoices, and manage payment processes efficiently.
• Industry Engagement: Organize visits to trade shows, industry events, and vendor meetings to stay current with industry developments.
• Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance to the buying team, including scheduling meetings, maintaining files, and preparing reports.

Skills and Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

• Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in retail as a Junior Buyer or in a relevant role, preferably in a retail and/or e-commerce environment, with exposure to homeware/appliances & cookware and experience in sourcing from China.
• Education: A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, business, economics, or a related field is preferable.
• Skills: Proficiency in computer literacy, Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, data extraction, and formatting), market research, data analysis, and forecasting techniques. Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of purchasing best practices.
• Traits: Detail-oriented, able to work under pressure, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a results-focused mindset. Personal integrity, business ethics, and analytical thinking are essential qualities for success.
