Job Description

Agri Credit Solutions is seeking the services of a Junior Agronomist who will be responsible for providing expert agronomic guidance, mentorship, and skills transfer to emerging farmers, ensuring sustainable and productive agricultural practices.

What you'll need:

• 1-3 years of relevant experience
• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture (BSc Agric) or equivalent qualification, specializing in Agronomy and Soil Science as major subjects.
• Solid understanding of agronomic principles, soil science, and crop management.
• Proficiency in collecting soil and plant samples and conducting field assessments.

What you'll be doing:

External Agronomic Services:

• Conduct on-site farm visits for soil and plant sampling.
• Maintain detailed records of fields, customers, crops, and samples.
• Provide agronomic advice and mentorship to developing farmers.
• Assist with equipment calibrations, such as planters and boomsprayers.
• Stay informed about industry developments and share relevant information.
• Deliver written and verbal guidance, advice, and feedback.
• Present researched information on relevant subjects.
• Communicate business, market, and risk insights to clients.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws.

Internal Agronomic Services:

• Conduct specialised investigations and provide recommendations.
• Analyse and interpret data for specific farming practices, including precision farming.
• Provide written and verbal advice and feedback to internal stakeholders.
• Estimate crop yields and contribute to production cost guidelines.
• Assist in establishing norms for consistent crop production areas.
• Share business, market, and risk information with internal clients.
• Address ad hoc inquiries and challenges.
• Adhere to occupational health and safety regulations.

Marketing and networking:

• Support coordination of marketing initiatives.
• Establish and nurture networks with internal and external stakeholders.
• Build corporate image and foster client/stakeholder relationships.
• Responsively address inquiries from clients.
