The Daily Maverick's Johannesburg Bureau is looking for a relentless and sharp-witted Journalism Intern to join our newsroom for an intensive 12-week residency. This isn't a "coffee-run" internship. You will be on the ground, in the thick of the action, helping us tell the stories that define South Africa's economic and cultural heart.

You will work alongside seasoned correspondents and editors to uncover, verify, and write stories that matter. From the council chambers to the streets of Soweto and the boardrooms of Sandton, you will help us navigate the complex tapestry of Johannesburg.

Requirements
We are looking for academic excellence combined with a "street-smart" approach to news.
Education:
A recently completed Degree in Journalism (Honours equivalent or higher is preferred).
Location:
You
must
be currently based in Johannesburg with a deep, nuanced understanding of the city's geography and social dynamics.
Skills:
Exceptional command of English (written and verbal). Multilingualism (specifically isiZulu, Sesotho, or Afrikaans) is a significant advantage in our newsroom.
Driver's License:
A valid South African driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is highly preferred.
