Job Title:IT Network Engineer

JOB ROLE:

The IT Network Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, and technical specifications required to deliver high-availability network infrastructure to sustain online and on-site information technology activities.

This will include designing and implementing network configurations, carrying out network monitoring and configuration of security systems such as firewalls; monitoring bandwidth, network performance, and capacity requirements; researching, planning and integrating new technologies into the network lifecycle; and troubleshooting performance issues, with the aim of ensuring network performance in line with agreed service levels and in a manner that is professional, reliable, and in line with business and regulatory requirements.

This role will be required to ensure all practices are in line with policy, frameworks and tools based on researched leading and industry practice, technical solutions, specialised projects and innovation, and legislative support to advise, enable and support business operations in achieving their objectives.

JOB SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as the owner and technical expert for all network related projects (including routing and switching and Wi-Fi components) and the resolution of technical issues related to the network infrastructure for the company group.
• Act as 2nd level support and escalation point for all network related incidents and problems.
• Design system installations and configurations and define, document, and enforce system standards.
• Design and implement new solutions and improve resilience of the current environment, administering the firewall in line with IT security policy.
• Evaluate and diagnose network infrastructure faults, troubleshoot, and identify root causes and provide working solutions based on data analysis and trends.
• Work with project teams to facilitate the delivery of network solutions, projects, and upgrades.
• Define and optimize an integrated monitoring structure aimed to detect potential issues related to network systems.
• Install and integrate new network hardware and applications with the correct levels of security requirements.
• Maximise network performance by monitoring and troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades to ensure network optimisation (availability, utilization, throughput, and latency) and test for weaknesses.
• Make recommendations on network components or equipment to improve system performance.
• Produce and maintain documentation, diagrams, written and electronic repositories of documentation concerning day-to-day network operations and change management to assure consistency in daily operations.
• Report on network operational status by gathering and prioritising information.
• Manage SLA process, performance and billing with vendors around technical network requirements and support.
• Provide technical coaching and mentoring to colleagues in the area of routing, switching and Wi-Fi at unit level.
• Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users/customers.
• Maintain an inventory of networking equipment for the Group to inform support contracts and budgeting models.
• Maintain designs for all propertys networks.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification:

• BTech or relevant Equivalent.
• CCNP.
• CCNA: Wireless.

Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years relevant IT industry experience with 5 years supporting routing, switching and Wi-Fi data networks.
• Demonstratable experience with designing and deploying wireless network Infrastructure.
• Demonstratable experience with Project Management.

Work conditions and special requirements:

• Travel to all units required on a regular basis.
• May be required to work outside of normal working hours, in line with operational requirements (including weekends, public holidays).
