Job Description


Main purpose of the job:

  • To ensure that WHC's IT systems and processes adhere to industry regulations, company policies, and best practices
Location:
  • 31 Princess of Wales Terrace, Parktown xe2x80x93 Johannesburg
Key performance areas:

Compliance Monitoring
  • Continuously monitor IT systems, processes, and data to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • High-level technical knowledge of IT best practices relating to patch management, security, hosting, backups, DR, data storage, data transfer and cloud services
  • Stay updated/abreast on changes in IT compliance requirements and proactively communicate updates to the IT team
Policy Review
  • Knowledge and understanding of IT compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Recommend any changes/improvements/updates to the IT policies to align with new/updated laws and regulations
Auditing and Assessments
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of IT systems and processes to identify compliance gaps
  • Visit WHC divisions and review the alignment to the WHC IT Policies, donor/sponsor IT requirements /policies, laws/regulations, and other best practice guidance
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on audit findings and recommend corrective actions
  • Assist internal auditors with IT audits
Risk Management
  • Identify potential IT compliance risks and work with relevant stakeholders to develop risk mitigation strategies
  • Assist in the creation of risk assessments and compliance risk profiles
Incident Response
  • Assist in incident response activities related to IT compliance violations
  • Collaborate with the IT security team to investigate and remediate compliance incidents
Vendor Management
  • Evaluate and monitor third-party vendors and service providers for compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, audit results, and corrective actions
  • Generate regular compliance reports for management and relevant stakeholders
  • Complete follow-up reviews to confirm actions have been completed
Required minimum education and training:
  • Bachelorxe2x80x99s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Certification in IT Compliance or related areas
Required minimum work experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT Compliance
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
  • Proven experience in IT compliance, risk management, or a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Proficiency in compliance and audit tools and software
  • Knowledge of IT security principles and practices
