Job Description

An IT Asset Controller ensures the organization effectively manages its IT hardware, software, and related assets. This role involves tracking, maintaining, and optimizing the IT asset lifecycle, ensuring compliance with software licenses and policies, and contributing to IT financial management. Key Responsibilities:

Tracking and Management:

Maintaining accurate records of all IT assets, including hardware (computers, servers, etc.) and software, tracking their location, usage, and maintenance status.

Procurement and Disposal:

Participating in the procurement process for new IT assets, managing the lifecycle of assets from acquisition to retirement, and ensuring proper disposal of outdated or redundant items.

Software Licensing:

Managing software licenses, tracking usage, ensuring compliance with license agreements, and minimizing potential risks associated with non-compliance.

Financial Management:

Supporting IT financial management by tracking asset costs, depreciation, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting.

Compliance and Audits:

Ensuring IT assets are managed in compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulations, and participating in audits as needed.

Inventory Management:

Conducting regular physical inventory checks and reconciliations to ensure data accuracy in asset management systems.

Reporting:

Generating reports on asset status, usage, costs, and compliance for management review.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Education:

A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., IT, Computer Science, Business Administration) is generally required.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in IT asset management or a related field is typically required.

IT Skills:

Proficiency in using asset management systems, software licensing tools, and inventory management software.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills are essential.

Knowledge:

Understanding of IT asset management best practices, software licensing models, and IT financial management principles.

Industry Knowledge:

Familiarity with ITIL, CMDB, and SAM frameworks is often advantageous.
Additional Beneficial Skills:

Experience with asset management systems like ServiceNow or SCCM. Understanding of software licensing methods (perpetual, subscription, etc.). Knowledge of relevant regulations like GDPR or HIPAA. Experience in optimizing asset utilization and reducing costs.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: R29900,00 per month
