Basic microbiological techniques including, but not limited to:
- Preparation of microbiological culture media. - Preparation of buffers and reagents. - Isolation of bacteria from a sample. - Serial dilution techniques. - Counting bacteria and determination of CFU/ml or CFU/g.
Monitoring and/or assisting glassware washing and sterilization.
Operating industrial autoclave, preparing soil and pot or Leonard jars for glasshouse trials.
Aiding with research projects (both laboratory and glasshouse).
Providing scientific assistance to maintenance of culture collection.
Diploma in Crop Production with one (1) year experience in Science or Microbiology laboratory.
Experience working with samples that contain bacteria or fungi (e.g. soil, water or any other product).
Experience in operating the industrial autoclave.
Proficiency in English.
A valid driver's license is an added advantage.
