PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

My client, a leader in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for a 6-month period which might lead to permanent employment. The role of a Laboratory Assistant is to prepare samples and conduct analytical or lab-based tests on a variety of geological samples, raw materials, or research samples. The incumbent will typically receive samples and conduct testing for the purposes of quality assurance, safety inspection, regulatory adherence, environmental impact, or sample testing.

Key performance criteria of this position include: * To conduct daily process control tests on all critical technical parameters within the geological laboratory. These would include but are not limited to incoming raw materials, clay products, products, firing properties and well as finished product properties.

• General housekeeping in the laboratory and upkeep of laboratory equipment.
• Documenting all samples tested.
• Data capturing and updating of files.
• Storing and upkeep of all raw material and lab samples.
• Filing of all tested samples and update records.
• Off-loading, testing and storage of all core & lab samples.
• Eager to learn and develop.
• Failure analysis and technical investigations and reporting on customer complaints.
• Comply to all Health and Safety requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12 with maths and science.
• Excellent exam results.
• Eager to learn on the job.
• MS Office
