Job Purpose Design, optimise and review the Technical Infrastructure on the TIH South African IT Infrastructure. Incorporate a holistic view of the assessment of new or existing technologies being deployed or modified, whilst accounting for the infrastructure technologies. Proactively identify, investigate and resolve technical incidents and problems. Focus on support and optimisation of high complexity IT systems and subsystems. Drive transition, due diligence and all technical documentation for the respective technologies, mentor peers and serve as a final technical escalation point. Responsibilities Enterprise Architecture Create/manage architecture storyboards/viewpoints that articulate business requirements. Contribute to the strategic architecture plan ensuring data features are prioritised appropriately, estimates are reliable, benefits can be realised, and design activities are proactively monitored and tracked to meet planned time frames and the overall architecture plan. Conduct a risk / impact analysis on current or proposed technologies to mitigate risk and ensure stability and continuity. Proactively work alongside the Infrastructure team and identify whether the deployed Infrastructure meets with the original design parameters once implemented and advise to any possibly capacity constraints thereafter on an on-going basis. Provide support to the Solutions Architect by identifying infrastructure and networking requirements for the proposed solution. Proactively work alongside the security team to ensure a secure solution. Infrastructure and Network Development and Maintenance Design and select business-critical storage, data center, and client/server environments to design solutions in line with industry best practice and provide a third-line point of escalation for appropriate global infrastructure solutions. Responsible for the complete infrastructure design, analysis and facilitate implementation roadmaps in conjunction with relevant internal stakeholders in order to ensure seamless delivery. Drive short and long term architecture strategy and roadmaps for the overall IT project portfolio for key segments and infrastructure domains (Network, Telephony & Communications services, Storage, virtual platforms, cloud platforms and various other infrastructure services. Support the operational TTS Infrastructure team with the planning or review of new Infrastructure initiatives on an on-going basis which will include IT Infrastructure architectural planning, design and rollout. Enterprise Infrastructure Modernisation Drive advances in technologies and architectures to increase the value delivered by technology and digital capabilities, either through improvements to the efficiency of technology environment or through those that reduce the total cost of technology operations. Recommend and participate in activities related to the design, development and maintenance of the digital capabilities within the enterprise architecture. Mitigate infrastructure risks (single points of failure, capacity constraints, security, etc) and maintain the improvement list within TIHxe2x80x99s current and newly implemented Infrastructure and propose solutions on an on-going basis. Feasibility Studies Contribute to and support feasibility studies from a technological and organisational perspective, and document findings. Participate in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business and IT strategy. Participate in impact assessments for all and any change requests and or new projects that may have Infrastructure impacts/requirements. Horizon Scanning Maintain deep understanding of current technology, database management, programming practices, and future trends through ongoing education, conference attendance and industry press. Proactively research and identify relevant technology and system design patterns to optimally address enterprise requirements and ensure continuous improvement. Information Security Support implementation of required security measures such as firewalls or message encryption, monitoring performance to notify security experts of any problems. Work closely with the head of IT Security to ensure alignment of Infrastructure and IT Security. Operational Compliance Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organisation's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards. Identify, within the team, patterns of non-compliance with the organisation's policies and procedures, and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate. Ensure efficient documentation and governance of infrastructure landscape. Technical Developments Recommendation Research and suggest technical developments to improve quality of the website/ portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users' needs. Ensure effective handover and understanding of designs and frameworks to infrastructure operations on an on-going basis. Provide specialised support and guidance to relevant internal stakeholders on system(s) and / or processes during change design and planning and acts as a subject matter experts that supports operational team. Develop technology specifications and ensure that new technology solutions are designed for optimal access and usefulness, and leverage on existing technologies when possible. Stakeholder Engagement Contribute to stakeholder engagement through identifying stakeholders, finding out their needs/issues/concern and reacting to these by arranging meetings and events and drafting supporting materials to promote understanding and commitment. Proactively work alongside TTS Internal and / or Business stakeholders in order to identify technology solutions which meet and improve operational and business requirements. Establish successful working relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with Infrastructure Operational management. Work alongside the Solutions Architecture role to assist with the build and the deployment of Infrastructure according to the design on an on-going basis. General Education Grade 12/ SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential); Recognised degree / diploma / certification (Essential) Certification in a IT industry standard framework like ITIL (Advantageous) General Experience 10 or more years experience in a production IT environment managing enterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, hosting service and network areas (Essential) 2 or more years experience and exposure to application development principles and support (Essential) 2 or more years experience and exposure to ITIL disciplines (Essential) 1 or more years exposure and experience with IT security disciplines (Essential) Experience with Cloud Architecture designs (Advantageous)
