ICU Nurse - PretoriaJob SummaryDeliver comprehensive and quality patient care to meet the health needs of the patientsPrevent, report and manages medico-legal risks in the unitConduct comprehensive patient care auditsResponsible for controlling of stock and maintenance of equipment in the unitGive support and mentorship to junior staff members in the UnitAbility to display sound judgements in problem-solvingDisplays a concern for excellence by adhering to company policies and proceduresMaintains customer-focused mindset that acknowledges the value of the patientEnsures a therapeutic and safe patient environment by maintaining health and safety standards and complying with infection prevention and control proceduresControl of stock and equipment in the unitRegistration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered NurseMust be ICU trainedAt least 2 years previous experience as Registered Nurse in ICUPrevious experience in a Paediatric or Neo Natal ICU will be an added advantageNurse and monitor critical are patient, including ventilated patientsEnsures that patient records and registers meet legal requirementsCompetent in demonstration and assessment of all clinical procedures and management of risksA good understanding and application of the nursing scope of practice and knowledge of patient care.Basic knowledge of stock control principlesSound knowledge of nursing activities and procedures as per Scope of Practice of a Registered Nurse.Knowledge of clinical procedures, scientific nursing process and BCA principlesAbility to identify and report near-misses and adverse eventsBe able to function as an effective member of the nursing team by facilitating team effectivenessMust be prepared to work shifts
