Job Summary:
The Hydraulic Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining hydraulic systems on construction and heavy equipment. This role ensures machinery operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime to support construction operations.
Qualifications and Skills:

• Trade qualification as a Hydraulic Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic with strong hydraulic experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience working on hydraulic systems of construction or heavy equipment.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic schematics and system design.
• Experience with high-pressure hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
• Physically fit and able to work in demanding site environments.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to sites.
• Willingness to work overtime and standby when required.
• Hydraulic fault diagnosis.
• Component overhaul and repair.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Hydraulic Systems Maintenance & Repair: Inspect, diagnose, and repair hydraulic systems on construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, cranes, graders, and dump trucks. Perform maintenance on hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, hoses, and fittings. Identify hydraulic leaks, pressure issues, contamination, and component failures. Strip, overhaul, and reassemble hydraulic components.
• Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic tools, gauges, and schematics to troubleshoot hydraulic faults. Test hydraulic systems after repairs to ensure optimal performance. Analyse root causes of hydraulic failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Preventative Maintenance: Conduct scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to minimise equipment breakdowns. Monitor hydraulic oil quality, filtration systems, and fluid levels. Ensure compliance with manufacturer service intervals and specifications.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations and company procedures. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Identify and report safety hazards and equipment defects.
• Reporting and Support: Maintain accurate service and maintenance records. Provide technical support to operators and site supervisors. Assist with on-site breakdowns and emergency repairs when required.
