Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the national HR function and contribute as a member of the Executive Committee.
  • Align HR strategy with organisational mission, values, strategy, and operational priorities.
  • Prepare and present quarterly HR reports at board meetings.
  • Manage workforce planning, performance management, and succession planning across campuses.
  • Support employment equity and transformation initiatives in line with GBTSAs EE Plan and in collaboration with the external service provider.
  • Champion employee wellness and organisational culture in high emotional-impact work settings.
  • Ensure legal and statutory compliance in employment practices and policy development.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate learning and development initiatives.
  • Capture and maintain accurate HR information, performance management records and training plans on Sage HR.
  • Facilitate employee engagement through structured feedback, recognition and communication systems.
  • Coordinate the organisations occupational health and safety programme in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Policy and the statutory and regulatory framework.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology or a related field
  • Minimum of five years HR Generalist experience at a senior or strategic level
  • Experience in the non-profit, care-based or child-focused sector is highly desirable.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Demonstrated ability to work strategically at EXCO level while managing operational, and administrative HR needs.
  • Sound knowledge of South African labour law and HR best practices.
  • Experience managing performance, compliance, employment equity, and staff wellness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills,with the ability to engage empathetically and diplomatically at all organisational levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Sage HR (or similar)
  • Strong report writing, facilitation, and planning abilities.
  • A valid driver's licence is essential.
  • High level of ethics, integrity, and professionalism, able to act with fairness, confidentiality, and in the best interests of staff and the vulnerable children served
  • Sound judgement and decision-making ability in emotionally complex or legally sensitive matters.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with capacity to coordinate HR activities across multiple sites.
  • Proficiency in HR systems (e.g. Sage HR) and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
