The HR Manager is responsible for delivering all HR and IR functions across the business, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll inputs, compliance, statutory reporting, employee relations and employee experience. This role ensures that HR processes are executed professionally, accurately and consistently across all branches. The HR Manager will also oversee the support staff who manage reception, travel arrangements, office consumables, events, marketing tasks and general internal service delivery.
In addition to the operational responsibilities, the HR Manager will provide strategic leadership in succession planning, skills development, culture, staff retention, wellness initiatives and organisational capability. This position plays a key role in strengthening organisational discipline and supporting EXIM's long-term people strategy.
Required Skills, Traits and Competencies
Minimum of 8 years HR experience in a generalist role with strong IR exposure.
Solid working knowledge of South African labour legislation.
Experience handling disciplinary matters, hearings and HR related investigations.
Strong recruitment experience including job descriptions, screening and interview processes.
Ability to manage payroll inputs, employee movements and monthly HR administration.
Experience with statutory reporting such as Employment Equity, Skills Development and Workman's Compensation.
Strong ability to deliver HR planning cycles including succession planning, development plans and retention efforts.

A. HR Operations and Administration
Managing, directing, and overseeing the full HR function across all branches.
Management of monthly payroll inputs and employee movement processing.
Maintenance of HR policies, records, contracts and compliance documentation.
Support during audits and Department of Labour inspections.
Administration of medical insurance updates.
Ensuring complete and accurate employee documentation at all times.
B. Statutory Compliance
Coordination of all statutory submissions including EE, WSP/ATR and WCA.
Acting as liaison between EXIM and external statutory partners.
Ensuring accurate training reporting through the Skills Development programme.
Supporting POPI compliance across the organisation.
C. Recruitment and Onboarding
Full recruitment cycle and onboarding for all allocated roles.
Preparing internal vacancy adverts and job profiles.
Screening, interviewing, reference checks and coordinating assessment processes.
Implementing a consistent onboarding experience across all sites.
D. Industrial Relations (IR) and Labour Law Compliance
Support to managers on IR matters in partnership with external service provider.
Drafting and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures.
Advising managers on absenteeism management, grievance handling and performance issues.
Preparing documentation for hearings and process management.
E. Performance Management
Running probation reviews, PIP documentation and performance follow-ups.
Supporting performance discussions and training managers on performance procedures.
F. Training, Skills Development and Succession Planning
Leading succession planning and development plans for key roles.
Developing and implementing cross-functional training programmes.
Driving skills development reporting and coordination of training vendors.
Supporting long-term organisational capability development.
G. Culture, Engagement and Wellness
Driving employee engagement, wellness initiatives and culture activities.
Coordinating values training and staff onboarding sessions.
Implementing staff retention programmes and recognition initiatives.
Supporting eNPS cycle and follow-up actions.
H. Oversight of Support Staff and Internal Service Delivery
Oversight of reception, travel bookings, office consumables and events support.
Ensuring professional standards in visitor experience, travel coordination and internal hospitality.
Managing workloads, priorities and performance of support staff.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or a related field.
Postgraduate qualification advantageous.
Minimum of 8 years HR Generalist experience with strong IR capability.
Proven experience in managing HR operations across multiple sites (preferred).
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to regional branches.
