Purpose of the Role
To manage all people-related processes, support staff across the organisation, and ensure compliance with labour legislation while maintaining a positive, fair, and structured working environment. The HR Manager plays a key role in employee relations, payroll accuracy, communication, and guiding managers in people management practices.

Key Responsibilities
(Includes but is not limited to the following)
Recruitment & Staffing
Manage the full recruitment cycle (job adverts, interviews, onboarding).
Maintain updated job profiles and organisational structure.
Coordinate induction and orientation programmes.
Training & Development
Assess training needs across departments.
Coordinate internal and external training programmes.
Track and evaluate training effectiveness
HR Operations & Payroll
Oversee and manage monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
Conduct staff hours analysis (overtime, leave patterns, absentee trends).
Resolve HR and pay queries, ensuring fast and accurate communication.
Maintain staff records, contracts, documentation, and personnel files.
Perform SARS, UIF, and statutory administration related to payroll and compliance.
Employee Lifecycle Management
Manage onboarding, including induction, contracts, systems setup, and H&S orientation.
Oversee exits, including exit interviews, documentation, and recoveries.
Maintain and update funeral policy and benefit administration.
Support employees with day-to-day HR queries, wellness needs, and concerns.
Employee Relations
Lead and oversee disciplinary hearings, warnings, and performance discussions in line with labour law.
Manage and respond to grievances promptly and fairly.
Provide guidance to managers on labour law, CCMA preparation, and best practices.
Ensure HR and operational policies are correctly followed across all branches.
Health & Safety (H&S) Compliance
Oversee Health & Safety from start to finish, ensuring all company H&S rules are understood, implemented, and followed across all branches.
Conduct H&S awareness during onboarding, including required training and documentation.
Ensure branches comply with OHSA regulations, PPE requirements, and safe working procedures.
Maintain updated H&S records, incident reports, and corrective action logs.
Support managers during H&S inspections, audits, and accident investigations.
Ensure all staff complete mandatory H&S training, refreshers, and toolbox talks.
Collaborate with Operations and Workshop teams to maintain safe yards, workshops, and customer areas.

Core Competencies
Strong mastery of full employee lifecycle management (hire ? retire).
Solid understanding of labour law, BCEA, LRA, and CCMA processes.
Skilled in employee relations, including discipline and grievance handling.
Ability to plan and coordinate training & development activities.

Technical Competencies
Experience with HR information systems and payroll integration.
Skilled in recruitment, profiling, and shortlisting techniques.
Ability to interpret HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, productivity).
Knowledge of SARS, UIF, COIDA, and H&S compliance regulations.
Understanding of OHSA, workplace risk assessments, and safety processes.

Minimum Requirements
3-5 years HR management experience (multi-branch experience advantageous).
Strong knowledge of South African labour law and Health & Safety legislation.
Experience with payroll systems (Sage, SimplePay, or similar).
Valid driver's licence (for branch visits, investigations, and safety audits).
HR Diploma or Degree preferred; H&S certification is a strong advantage.
