Position: HR Officer & Administrator
Location: Somerset West, Cape Town (In Office)
Reporting to: Management
Experience required:
Minimum 10-12 years relevant HR experience, including hands-on involvement in disciplinary processes and exposure to CCMA matters. Direct, independent CCMA representation is advantageous but not essential.
Contract: 12 (Twelve) months fixed term, with potential for permanent placement.
The appointment will include a

Human Resources:
This role carries primary responsibility for day-to-day Human Resources operations, including policy implementation, recruitment and onboarding support, employment contract administration, performance management support, employee relations, and disciplinary administration. The role requires a practical, hands-on HR professional capable of operating independently within defined parameters, with escalation to management or external labour consultants for complex or high-risk labour matters, including CCMA proceedings.
This position is suited to an experienced HR professional seeking broader responsibility and scope in a small-company environment, with escalation support provided for complex labour matters.
Administration:
In addition to HR leadership, the role provides administrative and operational support to the business, including documentation control, internal and external communications, and maintenance of company systems and records. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, strict confidentiality, and the ability to operate autonomously within defined responsibilities across multiple business functions while maintaining consistency, accuracy, and professional standards across all company documentation and communication platforms.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Human Resources (Strategic & Operational):
Drive and implement HR initiatives aligned with company strategy and objectives.
Develop, implement, and monitor HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
Manage recruitment, selection, onboarding, employment contracts, and employment checks.
Oversee performance management, development reviews, mentoring, and employee counselling.
Support and advise management and employees on labour relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary processes, and grievances, in line with company policy and guidance from management or consultants.
Support CCMA matters, including preparation of documentation, coordination with external labour consultants, and participation in proceedings where appropriate.
Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation and ethical HR practices.
Own and maintain accurate HR records, including absence management, leave, payroll data, staff lists, and timesheets, ensuring audit-ready documentation at all times.
Training, Skills Development & Reporting:
Organise, coordinate, and maintain records of internal and external training.
Support company skills development objectives and statutory reporting requirements.
Prepare HR management reports including leave management, payroll costs, and workforce data.
Administration & Systems Support:
Provide administrative support to company operations and management.
Manage and maintain in-house systems supporting HR and administration functions (e.g., HSEC, AssessTeam, SharePoint).
Accurately document, compile, format, and control company records and confidential information.
Proactively manage and oversee internal and external company communications across all portals, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of South African labour law and HR best practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong planning, organisational, and time-management capabilities.
High level of discretion with confidential and sensitive information.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Comfortable working with HR, compliance, and document management systems.
Required Education & Qualifications:
Tertiary qualification in Human Resources (required).
Minimum 10-12 years relevant hands-on HR experience in a professional or industrial environment.
Demonstrated verifiable experience supporting disciplinary processes, drafting HR documentation, and administering employment contracts and policies. Exposure to CCMA processes is advantageous. Candidates will be required to provide examples during the interview process.
