The HR Generalist will play an integral role in the HR Team by working closely with managers and teams from various areas of the business to implement the People/HR Strategy in line with the company's goals. The ideal candidate will be an empathetic and approachable team player who is not afraid to get their hands dirty. He/she will provide end-to-end support across the full employee lifecycle.
This role reports to the HR Manager and is based in Johannesburg.
Key responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
End to end recruitment, including sourcing, interview screening and coordination with candidates and hiring managers
Ownership and support of the onboarding process which includes background checks, drafting of contracts, gathering new starter data, ensuring first day readiness, induction and new joiner check-ins
Provide assistance with all operational people issues of the employee lifecycle in your assigned business areas, including but not limited to performance management, learning and development, exit process
Coordinate remuneration documentation, payroll submissions and checks to ensure accurate and timeous delivery
Ensure data integrity and upkeep of all HR management systems and employee records, including leave management
Ownership of the weekly wages process that is; weekly leave administration, inputting of hours and distributing the payslips to the Johannesburg Production Manager and Cape Town Production Manager.
Support line managers with all IOD and IR processes with documentation, scheduling, updating of information and providing guidance through disciplinary procedures
Manage submissions of adhoc legislative administration and requirements
Provide effective and efficient support to the HR Team, including delivering reports on key employee information to be used in strategic reporting and other periodic legislative submissions
Execute and deliver on ad-hoc projects, interventions and tasks from time to time
Qualifications & Skills
3+ years HR generalist experience, preferably in a retail or warehouse environment of a dynamic company
Degree or diploma in Organisational Psychology, Human Resources Management, or a Social Sciences related field
Experience working with an HRIS
Sound knowledge and understanding of SA Labour Legislation (eg. BCEA)
Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
