Our client in media is seeking an HR Business Partner who will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the people strategy to support business growth. This full-time role requires a balance of strategic insight and hands-on execution, working closely with Group HR, the CEO, and leadership to foster a high-performance culture that attracts, develops, and retains talent. This is an in office position in Morningside, Sandton Johannesburg.
Reporting to the Head of HR (with a dotted line to the CEO), the role will act as a trusted advisor, aligning with group-wide frameworks and policies while meeting the operational people needs of the business.
Gauteng-based with flexible working arrangements.
Responsibilities:
Partner with the Head of HR, Group HR team, CEO, and leadership to develop and execute our people strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and group standards.
Ensure effective HR administration including recruitment processes, issuing offers, onboarding and enrolment, payroll submissions, monthly HR reporting, and compliance.
Manage group benefits administration, ensuring all employees are enrolled and compliant with company policies.
Design and implement scalable talent acquisition processes, including job design, candidate sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
Develop and maintain competitive compensation and benefits frameworks.
Create and deliver performance management systems that drive high performance.
Build learning and development programmes to support career progression.
Establish and maintain employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, feedback mechanisms, and retention strategies.
Provide coaching and support to managers on people management topics.
Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation, including the Labour Relations Act and Employment Equity Act.
Manage employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary processes, and investigations.
Develop and implement People policies and procedures that support a positive and productive work environment.
Partner with leadership on workforce planning and future talent needs.
Establish People metrics and analytics to measure effectiveness and inform data-driven decisions.
Requirements

  • HR qualification (essential).
  • 4+ years of experience as a People/HR Business Partner or in a similar role.
  • Strong background in HR administration, including recruitment, issuing offers, onboarding, payroll, group benefits, HRIS updates, and monthly reporting. Strong understanding of South African employment law and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with full-cycle talent acquisition.
  • Proven track record in performance management systems and compensation frameworks.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to support organisational objectives through people initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience coaching and developing managers.
  • Analytical mindset with experience using People metrics to guide decisions.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in fintech, financial services, or other regulated industries would be an advantage.
