Job Summary

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Human Resources Manager. The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Sourcing outsources and permanent staff, creating ads with specific job descriptions and RA's for head office approval, completing criminal & credit checks, reference checks and medicals for staff before approval to work.
  • Arranging interviews with shortlisted candidates & interviewing them and rating their responses.
  • Give new employees induction training, issue employment contracts.
  • Initiate in all internal disciplinary enquiries.
  • Sending telegrams to staff who are AWOL and informing head office of terminations.
  • Make issue warnings in compliance with procedural and substantive fairness.
  • Submitting change of bank details for staff, garnishees, and staff loans to head office.
  • Submitting all union resignations and applications for processing to head office.
  • Motivate for side letters for employee promotions and acting allowances.
  • Oversee clocking system and check for short hours and approval of overtime and leave on system for submission to head office.
  • Investigating sick abuse and fraudulent sick notes.
  • Completing documentation for death & disability claims with insurers.
  • Checking & signing off of all outsource staff costs and other HR related invoices.
  • Manage the Employment Equity meetings and minutes.
  • Advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relation issues.
  • Responds to inquiries made by department of labor and investigate/responds to employee relation complaints, discrimination or harassment allegations.
  • Conduct needs assessment and develops training budget.
  • Responsible for establishing and implementing employee programs and monitor processes.
  • Establish and maintains accurate personnel employment records which fulfil legal and general business requirements for up-to-date employee information.
Requirements:
  • HR Diploma is non-negotiable.
  • Driver's license.
  • Experience in Human Resources within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to work in autonomy with limited supervision, and to take responsibility for own work area.
  • Ability to take relevant initiative when/if required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Dynamic personality with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
  • Disciplined, organized, and meticulous approach to work.
  • Curiosity, willingness to discover other Human Resources fields and to expand comfort zone.
  • Excellent communications skills - Verbal and written.
  • Hands on
