Job Description


Job Purpose

  • Provide dedicated support to the Fee Earners and Business Services departments (client groups) and manage the day-to-day operational HR issues that arise.
  • Support the HR Business Partners and their client groups to design and deliver effective HR solutions.
  • Take ownership of smaller groups/populations/processes/programmes and lead on supporting them and actively create a consistent approach to HR business advisory.
  • Coordinating and lead HR projects.
Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations
  • Acts as a go-to for ad hoc HR queries as they arise, providing advice and mediation for employee relation issues.
  • Carrying out end of probation review meetings, monitoring probation periods including follow up performance reviews and managing termination meetings where necessary.
  • Advising Partners, Managers and employees on policies and procedures, with the ability to influence, challenge and navigate difficult conversations.
  • Leading on disciplinary, capability and grievance meetings, and where appropriate running the grievance/disciplinary/capability investigation/hearings and creating performance improvement plans.
  • Coaching line managers across all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
  • Conducting new joiner catch up meetings and exit interviews.
  • Supporting the HR Business Partners, and leading where necessary, with restructures and change management.
  • Advising on parental leave processes.
  • Absence Management - proactively monitoring absence levels and dealing with long term sickness.
  • Managing internal and external secondments across the client groups.
  • Working with the wider HR team to communicate and share expertise. Providing support, feedback, and guidance. Acting as a point of consistency, ensuring that processes and outputs by peers are carried out consistently.
  • Acting as a mentor for the HR Coordinators to assist with their continuous professional development.
Talent Management
  • Work with L&TD and HRBPs to drive the talent management process.
  • Working with the HR Business Partners to manage the annual promotions process.
Salary Review
  • Support the HR Business Partners with the annual salary review process working as a project team with the HR Business Partners and Head of HR.
  • Manage the co-ordination and preparation of salary review documentation.
Projects
  • Working with the HR Business Partners, Head of HR and the business on various change-management projects within the firm. Taking the lead on either part of a larger project or all of a smaller project.
  • Coordination of HR related projects, ranging in size and content, to ensure deadlines are met. Creating project plans, tracking progress, and following up with stakeholders in a timely manner to ensure deadlines are met, taking ownership and being responsible for outcomes.
General
  • Working with the HR Coordinators to ensure that the client groups' organisational charts and data is kept updated to enable accurate analysis.
  • Leading the Global Associate Programme.
  • Coordinate Fee Earner and Business Services CDF sessions with L&TD.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and tasks.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience working at advisor level, ideally gained in a professional services environment.
  • A strong understanding of Employment Relations & Labour Law, particularly with regard to employee relations issues.
  • Able to establish good relationships with stakeholders, whereby queries will come directly to them, and they will act as a back-up to the HRBP when appropriate.
  • Good understanding of the different needs and styles of stakeholders and able to adapt appropriately.
  • Proven track record of building key stakeholder relationships with the Partnership and Senior Management Team.
  • Experience of HR systems/databases and advanced user of Excel with the ability to manipulate and analyse data.
  • Evidence of strong project management skills.
  • Must possess a relevant degree applicable to Human Resources.
  • Proactively manages workload and has the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Able to use initiative and flexible in thinking and approach. Has the confidence and trust to find appropriate solutions, handle situations or escalate where appropriate.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Proactive and resilient, seeking more exposure and raising their profile with key stakeholders.
