Job Description

Our client in Heavy Duty Earthmoving environment is looking for a Diesel Mechanic.

Employment offer based on a fixed term employment contract until 15 December 2023.

Qualifications:

• Qualified as a Red Seal Diesel Mechanic;
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience;
• Experienced in the construction, mining and heavy industrial industries;
• Exposed to Africa / International arena is advantageous;
• Proficient in automation controls and programming;
• Able to cope with the physical demands of the job;
• Previous knowledge/ experience in preventative maintenance, services, diagnostics problems for repairs on breakdowns, auto-electrical, hydraulics, modern automotive maintenance methods and procedures on the following plant and equipment:
• Hyundai excavators, front end loaders, telescopic handlers, hydraulic hammers and other specialised attachments.

Job Specifications:

• Be willing to work away from home and head office;
• Be in possession of a valid SA identity document and drivers license;
• Have no criminal record (screening will be done);
• Pass a medical fitness examination relevant to the scope of duties for this occupational and the environments in which you will operate;
• Have a valid SARS tax reference number;
• A current bank account in South Africa.

• Responsible for inspecting equipment for faults and repair accordingly.
• Ensure the machine is in good order before leaving to site.
• Complete the paperwork (checklist) for equipment leaving the yard.
• Responsible for the loading/ offloading of equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
• Adhere to all safe work procedures.
• Compile risk assessments when required.

Routine maintenance:

• Responsible for the servicing of equipment as per instruction.
• Complete the checklist and repair faults.
• Complete service reports.
• Liaise with Buyer/ Workshop supervisor for all spares requirements.
• Assist other mechanics when required.
• Carry out fault finding on equipment and follow corrective procedure.
• Responsible for leaving the work area in a an acceptable state (free of clutter and tools).
• Accept responsibility for tools issued.
