HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER - ATLANTISIntroductionWe are looking for an experienced/qualified Health and Safety Representative to join our team. This role will be required to ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health for all employees, contractors, and visitors involved in the yacht building process.Duties & ResponsibilitiesSupport the development of OHS policies and programs for the yacht production division.Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery, personal protective equipment, fire safety, etc.)Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures for all yacht building activities.Conduct Health and Safety meetings and co-ordinating related activitiesAct on all IOD incidents to support the individual and company and ensure all correct reporting is completed.Inspect premises and work activities to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OHS standards.Investigate incidents and accidents involving employees, contractors, or visitors and recommend corrective actions.Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to management.Organize OHS training for staff and contractors on topics such as first aid, firefighting, working at heights, confined spaces, etc.Liaise with external parties such as OHS consultants, auditors, inspectors, authorities, clients, etc.Maintain records of OHS documentation such as policies, procedures, registers, permits, certificates, etc.Monitor and review the performance of the OHS management system and suggest improvements.Promote a culture of health and safety awareness and compliance in the workplace.Ensure that all Health and Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.Coordinate the development of health and safety policies, systems of work and procedures.Conduct risk assessments, inspections, audits, investigations, and training.Report on health and safety performance and compliance.Desired Experience & QualificationA valid Grade 12 certificateValid driversxe2x80x99 licence and own transportA three-year Degree or National Diploma in Health and Safety or Safety Management or equivalent qualification.Certificate of training on SAMTRAC or OHSAxe2x80x99s. 3 years of experience in a Health and Safety role in a manufacturing or construction environment.Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice, and guidelines related to the yacht building industry.Experience with IOD procedures and CompEasy reportingKnowledge and application of related ISO 14 000, ISO 55 000 and OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 advantageousStrong knowledge of Emergency Evacuation Procedures.Computer Literate (Microsoft Office & Outlook).Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English and Afrikaans.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Attention to detail and accuracy.Problem-solving and analytical skills.Decision-making and leadership skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.Knowledge of yacht building processes and equipment advantageous
