Health and Safety Manager



As the Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and embedding an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) culture across all Sigma Connected SA workspaces. I will ensure full legal compliance, practical application of health and safety practices, and ongoing alignment with national and internal legislation. You will proactively manage risk, support safe work environments, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure health, safety, and well-being remain a core focus. You will directly report to the Head of Facilities and Transport.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like:




You will be responsible for the oversight of the Health and Safety aspects of occupancy certificates and collaborating with all relevant business areas to secure and maintain occupancy compliance across all operating sites. You will support business continuity planning, especially in emergencies or crises, as well as actively contribute to the development and implementation of a positive health and safety culture across Sigma Connected SA. You will also ensure that Sigma is aware of any new legislation and communicate any business impact clearly and proactively.


You will manage internal and external OHS training programmes through maintaining the required number of trained OHS Representatives, First Aiders, and Fire Marshals, and you will ensure that they are suitably trained. You will also implement and facilitate regular OHS Committee meetings across all sites, including agenda creation and minute-taking. You will also oversee all occupational health risk assessments for employees with medical (physical and/or mental) conditions and ensure regular review of these cases. You will maintain, plan, and execute regular emergency response drills and ensure outcomes are recorded and actioned.


You will also identify trends and implement preventative measures to keep up with those trends. You will build and maintain positive working relationships with landlords, contractors, suppliers, and clients concerning health and safety matters.

Minimum Requirements:



You have 3 years of experience as a Health and Safety Manager within the H&S environment You have 2 years of experience in Leadership within an H&S environment You have a Matric (Grade 12) qualification You have an existing OHS Certification within the relevant H&S field You have a thorough understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related legal frameworks. You have a good command of the English language (written and verbal) You are proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) You have experience in managing OHS across multi-site environments with diverse operational needs. You ensure that health and safety records, reporting systems, and documentation are effectively monitored and reviewed. You are proactive and solution-driven in addressing emerging safety concerns and continuous improvement. You can lead with a calm, well-thought-out approach in emergency scenarios You believe that health and safety are everyone's responsibility, and you promote this mindset in everything that you do.
