The Head Student Services is accountable for overseeing and maintaining all aspects of the campus career centre to ensure quality delivery of career centre programmes and the placements of graduates. The role oversees the management of the Alumni portfolio.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
Career centre Strategy and Plan Development & Implementation
Formulate and develop the career centre strategy and plan
Define and delegate targets to direct subordinates and ensure that national target of placements is achieved
Oversee all career centres across all campuses
Develop career centre programmes to improve placements and employment prospects of students
Develop and oversee the facilitation of training that infuses best practice, employability permanency with staff and students
Develop career coaching sessions for graduates to further improve employment prospects
Define processes to fulfil the transition of skills from college to work
Lead the development of Career expos that attract multinational and regional companies for placements of graduates
Business Development
Develop a focused business development plan to identify opportunities for students and graduates
Identify corporates to present service offerings relating to career services
Present proposals to corporates to provide solutions to needs identified
Sign off new business with corporates
Identify opportunities for sponsorship of events
Identify and secure bursaries for students
Stakeholder Relationship Management
New Student Onboarding and Orientation and legacy student tracking
Together with the Student Liaison Body, Support, Plan, Coordinate and Implement a National Sports and Social Activity programme.
Customer Contact and Touchpoint Management
Financial Management
Set and manage the annual budget for career services
Monitor adherence to budgets
Project Management
Responsible for planning, controlling and executing current projects nationally
Monitor that all processes are adhered to
Provide day-to-day oversight of relationships and projects with stakeholders
Compile reports relating to career centre projects, placement and focus areas
People Management
Conduct performance planning session, track and monitor performance in accordance with performance contracts
Conduct performance reviews in accordance with policies and procedures and take corrective actions where necessary
Complete Performance Management contracts and documentation
Provide coaching and feedback to employees on how to improve and sustain their performance
Manage Personal Development conversations and the completion of Personal Development Plans
Lead the department by managing appointments, promotions, and industrial relations issues in conjunction with the Human Resources Support Service Unit
Conduct disciplinary actions as per the company's policy and procedure where necessary
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
NQF Level 7 Qualification in Education/HR/Business Administration
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
5-7 years experience as the Graduate placement Manager / Student Recruitment or similar
3 years Business Development experience
3-5 years People Management
