We have an opportunity for the Head of Payments and Card. As the Head of Payments and Cards, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategic vision of the Institutionxc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2s engagement in payment streams and card services.

The incumbent will drive industry certifications, design innovative payment products, and ensure seamless customer experiences. xc3x82 You will also be responsible for Leading a team, collaborating with stakeholders, and navigating the dynamic landscape of payments and digital banking will be critical to the incumbentxc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2s success.

Requirements:

  • Bachelorxc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2s degree in business, finance, or a related field;
  • Masterxc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2s degree in business, finance, or a related field (preferred);
  • 10 yearsxc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2 experience in payments;
  • 10 yearsxc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2 experience in cards;
  • 5 yearsxc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2 experience managing a payment and/or card team;
  • Extensive knowledge of the card and payments industry in the South African context, its regulatory framework, as well as knowledge on current global trends;
  • Well-established network in the card and payments industry in South Africa;
  • Strong leadership and people management skills are essential for leading high-performing teams;
  • A collaborative, communicative leader that builds and maintains authentic, mutually beneficial partnerships with all stakeholders;
  • Experienced in managing change in an agile environment and being responsive to new inputs while being able to maintain a strong strategic vision for the area.

  • Implement and ensure industry and/or association certification for all payment streams that a Bank will participate in.
  • Drive the long-term strategy around participation in industry payment streams through to full settlement bank.
  • Design and launch payment and card products and services as well as enhance existing ones to meet the changing needs of customers; this includes design and implementation management around the full processing chain of payments and cards from the customer interface to the industry gateway.
  • Create and drive strategies aligned to our value management process that optimize the use of payments from a cost perspective as well as increase the usage by customers of digital payment streams to increase transaction levels and customer engagement.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities to innovate and enhance payments and card services, with a focus on increasing digital inclusion for the Bankxc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2s target market.
  • Provide thought leadership to the Bank in the field of cards and payments.
  • Manage key stakeholders from build through run, including the card and payment processors, the person bureau, and a subset of the core banking engine. In the transition to run, a strong collaboration with partner management and system and service operations is required to evolve current baseline SLAs and monitor across the value chain.
  • Manage the industry relationships on behalf of the new bank with PASA, BASA, Card Association, and BankServ, as well as the relationship with our Mentor/Sponsor Bank.
  • Ensure the establishment and subsequent management of a robust risk management framework around payments and cards and compliance with all applicable regulations and rules.
  • Drive a data-driven approach to deliver the baseline of reporting on payments and cards, but more importantly, utilize this in a test-and-learn environment to change payment behaviour to the benefit of the customer and bank.
  • Design, incubate, and initially manage the day-to-day operations around payments and cards, which include transaction processing, card stock management across retailers, and any merchant services.
  • Drive ongoing enhancement of servicing aspects of payments through App and Service Operations aligned to the vision of digital servicing.
  • Manage a team of payment professionals, providing leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to ensure their continued growth and success.
