The team is redefining how private credit operates combining institutional rigor with intelligent infrastructure to create a platform designed for scale, automation and transparency. As part of this shift, they are hiring a head of transaction management who will drive, develop and oversee the
transaction management team which is a key component of the platform. This is not a legacy middle-office role. Beyond ensuring robust monitoring workflows to reduce manual inputs, embed automation and build more intelligent, forward-looking operational processes You will lead a high-performing global team while also remaining actively involved in priority transactions, setting the standard for excellence in execution and client delivery. The transaction management team is a dynamic global team embedded in the company's global private markets platform with members in London and Cape Town. The team works in close collaboration with various internal teams (investment management, legal, ESG, compliance, fund accounting and others). This is to ensure that all their private market investments across Africa, Latin America, Asia & Europe are effectively managed / monitored. In addition, the team ensures that all reports and other contractual obligations owed to the clients (who are amongst the globe's top asset allocators and financial institutions) are professionally managed.
Success in the role requires a blend of technical rigor, operational excellence and leadership capability. The Transaction Management function operates with scalability, traceability and minimal manual oversight. Credit monitoring is proactive, automated and seamlessly integrated into investor and compliance workflows. The team is high-performing, collaborative, and continuously innovating. Investor and internal stakeholders consistently receive professional, accurate, and timely deliverables. Transaction management is recognized as a trusted, strategic partner within private markets.
JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • Leadership & strategy:
  • You will be required to lead, coach and develop a team of transaction managers, setting clear objectives and driving professional growth;
  • You will be required to define and drive the strategic direction of transaction management, embedding automation and AI to reduce manual inputs;
  • You will be required to partner with senior leadership to align team activities with broader private market objectives;
  • You will be required to act as an escalation point for complex portfolio company issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution;
  • You will be required to manage resource allocation and capacity planning across the team to ensure optimal delivery and long-term sustainability;
  • You will be required to hire, retain and develop top talent, ensuring succession planning and performance management processes are in place;
  • You will be required to stay directly engaged in selected high-priority transactions to set execution standards and reinforce team credibility;
  • Investment monitoring oversight:
  • You will be required to oversee and when appropriate, directly engage in the monitoring of portfolio companies, ensuring compliance with covenants, obligations and reporting requirements;
  • You will be required to ensure structured data capture, workflow automation and auditability across all monitoring processes;
  • You will be required to collaborate with technology teams to design and implement scalable monitoring tools and workflows;
  • You will be required to identify, escalate and manage portfolio risks in collaboration with investment teams and senior management;
  • Transaction execution & governance:
  • You will be required to lead or directly support the execution of complex or priority transactions, ensuring seamless coordination of funding logistics, settlement and post-close activities are handled with speed and control;
  • You will be required to provide oversight on all waivers, consents and amendments, ensuring risks are flagged and appropriately escalated;
  • You will be required to oversee the KYC function of the team both in relation to investment due diligence and inbound due diligence requests;
  • You will be required to drive standardization of best practice and execution frameworks across the global team;
  • Client & stakeholder engagement:
  • You will be required to serve as senior contact for investment teams, legal, compliance, fund accounting and facility agents;
  • You will be required to provide senior oversight of investor deliverables, ensuring reports are accurate, timely and increasingly automated;
  • You will be required to represent transaction management at client due diligence meetings, demonstrating both leadership and technical expertise;
  • You will be required to ensure workflows are considered in the design of new products and mandates;
  • You will be required to collaborate with the ESG team to ensure environmental and social monitoring is integrated into reporting.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • You have a postgraduate qualification (CA(SA), CFA, MBA, Actuarial or equivalent) - this is preferred;
  • You have a minimum of 10 years current, relevant experience in transaction management, credit operations, loan administration, or similar roles within an asset manager, bank, financial institution, development finance institution, or professional services firm;
  • You have proven leadership track record with the ability to develop, motivate and retain teams;
  • You have direct experience leading and executing transactions, including negotiations, structuring, or amendments;
  • You have a strong command of data and workflow automation tools and familiarity with AI-enabled frameworks.
