The

Head of Supply Chain

is responsible for leading and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain function, ensuring the efficient procurement, logistics, inventory, and delivery of components and services critical to solar and energy storage project execution. This role plays a strategic part in supporting Solareff's growth, ensuring supply chain resilience, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with project timelines and quality standards.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in supply chain roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position. Industry experience in renewable energy, engineering, or construction is strongly preferred. Proven experience in international sourcing, import/export regulations, and contract management.

Skills & Competencies

Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to execution. Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills. Proficiency in ERP systems and data analysis tools. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication abilities. Results-driven with the ability to operate under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Supply Chain Leadership

To develop and execute the supply chain strategy aligned with company goals and project demands. To establish strong supplier networks locally and internationally, especially for solar PV components, inverters, batteries, and BOS (balance of system) equipment. Evaluate and mitigate supply chain risks, including price volatility, lead time disruptions, and geopolitical impacts.

Procurement & Vendor Management

Lead procurement planning and supplier negotiations to achieve optimal pricing, quality, and terms. Oversee supplier qualification, onboarding, and performance evaluations. Ensure compliance with B-BBEE and local content requirements where applicable.

Inventory & Logistics

Manage inventory control systems for accurate forecasting, stock levels, and traceability. Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, warehousing, customs clearance, and delivery to project sites. Improve cost efficiency through optimized logistics and freight strategies.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

Build and manage a high-performing supply chain team. Collaborate cross-functionally with Project Management, Engineering, Finance teams to align supply with operational needs. Provide supply chain insights and reports to the executive team to support decision-making.

System & Process Optimisation

Drive digital transformation and continuous improvement in supply chain operations (e.g., ERP, automation, dashboards). Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and KPIs for effective supply chain management. * Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and sustainability standards across all supply chain activities.
