Role Overview



The Head of School will oversee the academic, operational, and pastoral functioning of the school, ensuring high standards of education, compliance, and school culture. The ideal candidate is a strong academic leader with administrative expertise, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for supporting students with remedial or special education needs.

Key Responsibilities



Provide strong leadership to teaching and support staff, promoting a positive, professional, and child-centred school culture. Oversee curriculum delivery and ensure effective classroom practice aligned to remedial education standards. Manage daily school operations, including timetabling, lesson oversight, learner support structures, and staff coordination. Maintain detailed and compliant school records, reporting, and documentation. Support and guide educators in differentiation, lesson planning, assessments, and intervention strategies. Establish strong relationships with parents, offering regular communication and updates on learner progress. Drive school improvement initiatives and ensure that academic and behavioural expectations are upheld. Work collaboratively with therapists and multidisciplinary teams to support learner development. Ensure that the school remains compliant with policy, governance, safety, and regulatory requirements. Represent the school professionally in external engagements and events.

Minimum Requirements



Recognised teaching qualification (Degree or Diploma). Minimum

5 years teaching experience

; leadership experience strongly preferred. Experience working in remedial, LSEN, or special needs environments advantageous. Strong understanding of differentiation, curriculum modification, and learner support strategies. Excellent administrative, communication, and organisational skills. Able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
