Head of Engineering - ParktownDescriptionKuba Pay Ltd is searching for a Head of Engineering to lead its engineering team. The Head of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of Kuba Pay's product offerings. Kuba Pay provides innovative and market-leading products and services to the public and private sectors with the aim of improving public transport. As a company, Kuba Pay believes in the importance of efficient public transport and its positive effects on the economy, environment, and accessibility. The company operates globally, with offices in London, Johannesburg, Rome, and Besanxc3xa7on. Kuba Pay's ultimate vision is to eliminate the burden of ticketing, an objective, which the Head of Engineering will help to achieve.This position is not hybrid, you will be required to work at our offices in Johannesburg.ResponsibilitiesWorking with the team to develop and execute an engineering strategy that meets the company's business objectives.Overseeing the design and development of new features and functionalities for Kuba Pay's products.Ensuring that the engineering team's work is in line with the company's standards and principles.Managing and guiding the engineering team, including setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews.Collaborating with other teams within the company, including product management and operations, to ensure that the engineering team's work aligns with broader company goals.Staying abreast of trends and developments in the field of information technology and services, including emerging technologies that may be relevant to Kuba Pay's business.Ensuring that the engineering team adheres to best practices in software development, including coding standards, quality control, and testing.RequirementsBachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field.Experience managing and leading an engineering team in a fast-paced environment.Strong software development skills, with experience in at least one programming language.Knowledge of software design patterns and architecture.Familiarity with agile development methodologies.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.BenefitsSalary commensurate with the positionProvident FundPaid Time OffTraining & Development
