The person in this role is responsible for all strategy, tuition, assessment, and student support in the geography department. The position requires an inspiring individual who can lead a dynamic team.

Minimum Requirements
A relevant degree in Geography (or related field).
SACE registration.
Minimum 5 years' experience teaching Geography at Grade 12 level (IEB experience advantageous).
Demonstrated leadership or management experience within a school environment.
Confidence in integrating technology into teaching practice.
Willingness to contribute to the extramural programme.
A track record of innovation, collaboration, and transformation in education.
Qualified, interested candidates are required to upload:

Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and Manage the Department:
+ Develop and implement a dynamic Geography curriculum aligned to IEB standards.
+ Provide academic leadership, mentoring and support to departmental staff.
+ Ensure quality teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
Strategic Planning and Innovation:
+ Drive innovation in curriculum delivery, pedagogy and use of educational technology.
+ Set departmental goals and monitor progress.
+ Champion interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
Teaching and Learning Excellence:
+ Teach Geography across Grades 8-12, including Matric.
+ Maintain high standards of classroom engagement, rigour and relevance.
+ Use data to inform teaching and student support.
Staff Development and Appraisal:
+ Facilitate professional growth for team members through coaching, feedback and formal appraisal processes.
+ Coordinate moderation and curriculum reviews.
Operational Oversight:
+ Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively.
+ Coordinate subject-related events, field trips, Olympiads and co-curricular activities.
Student Support and Inclusion:
+ Provide academic and emotional support to students.
+ Collaborate with Student Support teams and parents as needed.
Transformation and Belonging:
+ Promote inclusive practices and actively contribute to the school's transformation journey.
+ Embed diversity, equity, and belonging into the life and learning of the Geography department.
