Head of Corporate Communications - JhbKey DeliverablesThe role of the Head of Corporate Communication is to champion PRSA/SSA and its brands within an ever-changing local media landscape, changing perceptions and subsequently driving sales. The volatile and 24-hour nature of the media means the management of our external messaging has never been more important and equally, has never presented so many opportunities.Key InteractionsFrom an external communications point of view, the Head of Corporate Communication leads the communications of Pernod Ricard SA/SSA and its priority brands via B2C and B2B media. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, the Head of Corporate Communication creates communications strategies that supports corporate and brand priorities for a wide range of audiences and stakeholders - from a lobbying perspective, crisis communication point of view through to trade and consumer public relations.Public Relations Initiatives to Drive the Company and Individual Brand Operating Plans and StrategiesSupporting our power brands to pinpoint the news stories to tell about our brands:Communicate campaigns targeted at consumers nationally, influencers, trade and B2BEnsuring brand PR and related PR campaigns across digital and traditional tie into the brand strategy, meet the KPIxe2x80x99s set out and are reported onEnsure that brand PR ties into the overall Corporate PR pillars and messaging is alignedCapitalize on seasonal opportunities e.g. go hard at Christmas in trade and consumer media channelsNPD xe2x80x93 demonstrating innovation: Targeting consumer and trade journalistsProactive news creation that goes beyond set campaigns e.g. targeting traditional drinks writersCreate category stories to support brand and corporate challenges:Organize press conferences and use this platform to demonstrate to a wide mix of media what we are doing with key brands, including from a Public Affairs and S&R point of view e.g. alcohol duty, responsible drinking, etc.Develop and implement company and brand PR plans:Grocery, On-trade, Portfolio stories , New venturesPR plans to build the PRSA/SSA brand in line with strategy and focused on growing market sharePress releases drafted and released in line with company strategy and communications planDevelop and Ensure an Effective Corporate Communications Strategy is in PlaceDrive strategic PR initiatives to increase awareness for the Pernod Ricard corporate brand with consumers and general public in the SA/SSA regions.Working with PR / Corporate Communications agency to ensure strategy is aligned to the local and global vision and has tactical points to activate onDemonstrate ability to dive deep into our segment markets to identify new and creative ways to reach influencing media and share the Pernod Ricard storyIdentify and escalate potential public issues that may impact Pernod Ricard, diffuse rumours and resolve conflicting messagesMaintain a network of agency resources as required to support the execution of local initiatives and programsOwn, manage and evolve company external facing websiteDrive Preferred Employer AgendaWork closely with HR to demonstrate why PRSA/SSA is a great place to work:Communicate on relevant topics like diversity, gender equality and equal payTimely communication of awards won on marketing campaigns and other projectsCreate combined LinkedIn/social media campaigns and communication strategiesGenerate positive public relations that raises PRSA/SSA profile in local marketplaceCommunicate corporate social sustainability programs and community engagement plansResponsible for Corporate Sponsorship and RelationshipsManage and develop corporate sponsorship initiatives:Maintain, build and manage existing and prospective business relationships with key partners, corporate charities and local businessesDevelop Effective Internal Communication Strategy that Supports Business Priorities and Ensure Equal Access to Information Across the BusinessDevelop and implement an effective, annual internal communications plan:Plan is linked to business objectives and strategyEffectively convey campaigns and important local initiatives to employeesIn conjunction with HR work on Employee Engagement initiatives resulting in enhanced employee performance and subsequent business resultsOwn and manage the internal communication channels and guidelines:Full responsibility for My Portal, MS Teams, office screens, Press Room (monthly newsletter) management, updates and contentDrive regional communication through adopting regional tools like MyPortal RegionUse MyPortal Region to leverage strength of Pernod Ricard regions, gain efficiency through sharing and to support deployment of group vision at regional levelSupport and encourage business use of local or group specific platforms (chatter etc.)Point of contact with Global Communications teamContinuously Monitor Media Channels and Maintain and Build Key Media RelationshipsContinuous media monitoring:Have finger on the pulse of any changes in the media landscape. Be first to know about new publications, blogs, programs or journalists taking up new postsTrack key coverage for our market and share news with the wider SSA and global teamsTracking of this through correct online reputation management software, google alerts and agency reportingSenior management are briefed on media issues that may affect the businessRapid reaction plan developed and implemented in event of crisis/ negative publicityMedia management and relationship buildingEnsuring strong relationships with critical and wider media in South Africa.Organize briefings with key media, organize press events, effectively select target media for special eventsEnsure marketing teams are appropriately briefed for all press tours and key messages are effectively incorporated into briefingsHave the capacity to handle crisis and other reactive PR situations with grace and ease, knowing when and how to respond to media inquiriesPR and Communication Budgets Managed EffectivelyAccurate forecasts madeBudget compiled and approved in line with policy guidelinesManage costs against approved budget.
