Job Description


Administration Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit regular maintenance reports.
  • Plan and ensure the timely completion of planned preventive maintenance programs.
  • Analyze complex operational and administrative problems, providing effective courses of action.
  • Plan and approve leave for subordinates.
  • Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards, and management controls.
  • Measure, record, and report on utilities consumption.
Budget Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, administer, and monitor the budget for the maintenance sub-division.
  • Develop a 5-year Capex plan.
  • Prepare business cases for proposed changes and improvements in systems, plant, and equipment.
  • Assist in the review of the budget with the manager.
Maintenance Management:
  • Plan, organize, and direct maintenance operations to maximize returns on assets.
  • Initiate plans to minimize maintenance costs through effective resource utilization.
  • Implement maintenance strategies supporting strategic initiatives.
  • Establish accountabilities for problem-solving and cost reduction.
  • Develop, review, and update written maintenance instructions and schedules.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff and clients in plant design and operation.
  • Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for facility improvement.
  • Prepare tender specifications for outsourced services and procurement.
  • Ensure good maintenance practices for mechanical, civil, and electrical plant, equipment, and facilities.
Human Resources Management:
  • Select, motivate, and evaluate staff, providing training and development.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies within the area of responsibility.
  • Chair disciplinary enquiries when necessary.
  • Maintain a productive team environment and identify skills gaps for training.
Statutory Obligations:
  • Ensure compliance with the OHS Act, Regulations, and applicable standards.
  • Assist in inspections and enquiries with the Department of Labor Inspector.
  • Ensure timely and correct statutory inspections.
  • Advise divisional managers on statutory requirements and support compliance efforts.
  • Ensure contractors comply with company regulations and the OHS Act.
  • Participate in pre-construction sessions and respond to Health and Safety Inspectors' inquiries.
  • Carry out GMR 2(1 or 7) appointee's duties.
Project Management:
  • Lead the planning and implementation of projects.
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and manage project budgets.
  • Assemble and coordinate project staff.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines.
  • Track project deliverables and report progress to stakeholders.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Respond to emergency situations as necessary.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the departmental head in the absence of the Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Mechanical Engineering degree with GCC factories certification.
  • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ideally possess a B.Sc. Mech Eng Degree, GCC factories, Pr Eng, plus PM certification.
  • 5 years of engineering experience, including 2 years as a Senior Engineer.
