Job Description
SUMMARY:
Large Game Reserve close to Bela Bela is looking for a Head Guide.
This is a Senior position within the nature reserve, responsible for overseeing a team of Field Guides, ensuring the highest quality wildlife viewing experience for guests, maintaining safety standards, and often playing a key role in staff training, conservation efforts, and guest relations within the Reserve; essentially leading the guiding operations and acting as the primary expert on the local ecosystem and wildlife.
POSITION INFO:
Duties:
Meticulous in all aspects of Managing the guiding department
Manage, Oversee and Discipline staff in the guiding department
Staff training and development
Assist the Marketing team to manage social media content
Perform all administrative duties
Allocation of Rangers and Trackers to daily game drives
Staff scheduling and rosters
Manage daily game drives and bush walks
Hosting duties
Assist in guest activities
Assist around the lodge in other departments if needed
Photographic safaris
Compile weekly and monthly reports
Manage departmental budget comparisons
Requirements:
At least 3 years experience in a Big 5 Game Reserve / Luxury Lodge essential
Matric/Grade 12
FGASA Level 2 - NQF Level 4
Full Trails Guide
Passionate about Wildlife
Valid RSA Driver's License and PDP
Firearm competency
Experience in Wildlife photography will be an advantage
First Aid
Strong leadership skills
Mature and responsible
Well spoken, well-groomed and presentable
