To conceptualise seasonal collections based on trend research and buyer requirements.
To guide and develop junior designers to ensure all design work meets brand, quality and commercial standards.
To manage the full design cycle from concept to final artwork and sampling.

Lead and mentor junior designers to create high-quality designs.

4. Trend Research and Product Development
Research global and local fashion, colour and material trends.
Develop concept boards, colour palettes and seasonal themes.
Translate trends into commercial and production-ready designs.
Ensure designs are aligned with retailer requirements and company capabilities.
5. Buyer Collaboration and Presentations
Meet regularly with buyers to present concepts and seasonal ranges.
Interpret buyer briefs and feedback into clear design tasks.
Work with sales and production to ensure designs meet cost, quality and timing needs.
Build strong relationships with key retail partners.
6. Design Process and Execution
Oversee the complete design process from concept to final artwork.
Approve final designs, layouts and product prototypes.
Maintain brand identity and visual consistency across all designs.
Ensure artwork files and technical specifications are accurate and correctly prepared.
7. Cross-Department Collaboration
Work with sourcing, production and merchandising teams to ensure design intent is achieved.
Provide design input on materials, packaging and branding.
Assist marketing with creative assets when required.
8. Administrative and Strategic Duties
Maintain the seasonal design calendar and ensure all milestones are met.
Manage design workflows and department priorities.
Contribute to long-term brand and product strategies.
Monitor and report on team performance and progress.
9. Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Relevant Qualification:
National Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design, Fashion Design or related field.
Industry Experience:
3-5 years' experience in graphic or product design, ideally in fashion, apparel or accessories.
Technical Skills:
1. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
2. Strong understanding of colour, materials and visual composition.
3. Knowledge of retail design processes and South African consumer trends.
4. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
5. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
