Job Purpose

To lead the Human Resources strategy and ensure delivery of HR strategic plans that enable business strategic objectives, thereby ensuring sustainable human capital and business transformation. Responsible for people and talent enablement within the data and analytics value chain and overseeing the recruitment, mobilization and management talent, the data and analytics academy, training and development, change management as well as the HR business partnering function. Works closely with all CDAO functions and cluster and group teams to nurture talent, learning and the required capabilities to embed data into the culture.

Job Responsibilities

HR generalist accountabilities:

  • Lead the provision of thought leadership, people strategy, capability building and operationalisation of Nedbank's Data talent strategy and capability building, enterprise wide.
  • Lead the organisation design and job architecture of Nedbank's enterprise-wide Data job family, including centralised facilitation of job design, and facilitating the setting of appropriate remuneration to roles in this job family.
  • Manage the HR function within the division to develop a competitive advantage by creating a great place to work and ensuring the execution of the HR strategy to achieve business success.
  • Ensure transformational targets are met through recruitment, retention and training process and utilising preferred suppliers.
  • Deliver a world class service by ensuring a client centric and employee experience approach to all people interventions.
  • Contribute to the formulation of the HR budget by considering the strategic plans in line with required expenditure. Manage and ensure adherence to budget by monitoring expenses.
  • Ensure forecasted staff requirements and strategic workforce plans are documented, actioned accordingly, and costed by managing head count associated costs.
  • Manage and identify key operational and business risks by assessing risk areas against legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure awareness, compliance and implementation of all people related legislative and compliance issues.
Talent management accountabilities:
  • Manage and drive an integrated talent management approach including defining the data and analytics employee value proposition(s), talent attraction and recruitment, career management and mobility, talent development, succession management, reward and recognition, and talent attrition and retention.
  • Facilitate a learning culture in the division by encouraging staff to take accountability for their own career development.
  • Ensure implementation of appropriate performance management and recognition processes throughout the division to instil a high-performance culture.
  • Maintain a capable high performing team by identifying a talent pool through conducting career conversations and utilising the talent grid principles and developing talent retention programmes.

Learning academy accountabilities:
  • Facilitate the `sizing' and `scoping' of Nedbank's Data capabilities, enterprise wide, through an ongoing strategic workforce planning process that informs the nature and scale of talent pipeline building required by the Data Academy.
  • Provide oversight, coordination and integration of the Data Learning Academy and the alignment and mapping of related learning journeys to build the required data capabilities and create flowing talent pipelines across all levels.
  • Identify areas of resource inefficiencies and promote optimisation through promoting multi-skilling and addressing capacity gaps.
Change management and stakeholder engagement accountabilities:
  • Maintain stakeholder engagement by building effective business partnerships and coordinating and overseeing all change management initiatives to shift mindsets towards integration and collaboration in support of the Nedbank data strategy.
  • Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of data and analytics goals and support business strategies.
  • Maintain stakeholder engagement by building effective business partnerships towards achieving the enterprise data and analytics strategy.
  • Ensure knowledge sharing and leverage best-practice solutions through networking and collaboration with the relevant stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
  • Diploma
Preferred Qualification
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Human Resource Management
Minimum Experience Level
  • 11 years HR experience with a minimum 3 years people management as part of experience
  • Relevant experience within financial services or digital native organizations. would be advantageous.
