We are looking for an experienced and capable Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to run the kitchen of our busy, vibey restaurant and bar in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. Oblivion Bar & Kitchen has been in business for 23 years and continues to expand and exceed patron expectations.
This all day eatery is looking for a responsible individual with prior experience to manage daily kitchen activities, including:
Menu Planning and Development: Creating and updating the menu, incorporating seasonal ingredients, and developing new recipes.
Food Preparation and Cooking: Overseeing food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure quality and consistency.
Inventory Management: Managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring ingredients are fresh and available.
Kitchen Staff Management: Hiring, training, and supervising kitchen staff, scheduling shifts, and ensuring staff performance.
Budgeting and Cost Control: Managing food costs, reducing waste, and optimizing spending without compromising quality.
Health and Safety Compliance: Ensuring the kitchen complies with health and safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Quality Control: Tasting dishes, checking the presentation, and ensuring high standards are met consistently.
Customer Interaction: Occasionally interacting with customers to receive feedback and address any issues.
Collaboration: Working with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.
Innovation: Keeping up with culinary trends and incorporating new techniques and ingredients into the menu.
