Job Summary Experience & qualifications

  • Formal diploma or degree in culinary arts - required to secure a work permit
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a head chef in a high-end restaurant
  • Demonstrated experience in restaurant openings or new concept development
  • Expertise in modern international or fine dining cuisine
  • Strong kitchen management background: ordering, costing, hygiene, team structures
  • Experience working in Africa or the Global South an advantage
  • Excellent communication, training, and team development skills
  • Hands-on, present leadership style with a focus on quality and consistency
Key responsibilities
  • Lead the pre-opening kitchen setup, equipment selection, SOPs, and team onboarding
  • Develop and refine a seasonal, modern menu with costed recipes and plated standards
  • Manage kitchen operations including hygiene, safety, stock, and waste control
  • Source and build relationships with local and international suppliers
  • Maintain food cost and labour targets in line with business goals
  • Uphold exceptional presentation, consistency, and guest satisfaction
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, creativity, and team collaboration
  • Collaborate with senior management on strategy, events, and innovation
