Abagold has a vacancy for a Section Manager in the Hatchery.
If you have fulfilled a leadership role on multiple occasions, have strong Planning, Leadership, Management and Communication skills as well as a good understanding of Animal Husbandry, this opportunity might be for you!
Duties & Responsibilities
Planning, Control, Liaison:
Plan daily and weekly tasks with Hatchery Manager and communicating this to the supervisors and respective team
Implementation, training and follow up on execution of all SOPs
Follow up on execution of plan(s) to ensure that requirements are met in accordance (inspect what you expect)
Report to Hatchery Manager on progress, concerns, and issues
People Management & Communication:
Effective Liaison with Hatchery Manager
Effective Liaison with Business Administration Manager and Data Capturers as may be required regarding sorting plan and sorting data
Effective people management for optimal performance
Develop teams in line with farm or business requirements
Attends to performance or misconduct of employees in conjunction with Hatchery Manager daily
Conducts performance reviews of Supervisor with the Hatchery Manager
Coaches and Supports supervisors to ensure required performance levels are consistently met
Participates in recruitment process of employees as may be required when a vacancy becomes available
May be required to participate in supervisors' promotion considerations and evaluations
Animal Husbandry
Manage the day-to-day operations of an area on a specific farm, including sorting, tank cleaning and maintenance report, against agreed targets
Conduct and support any research projects that may be underway in the nursery area
Ensures that all equipment is always maintained in a good working condition
Ensures operational efficiency
Administrative duties as may be required in terms of the management of people or sorting information
Farm cleanliness and organisation of the areas in their area to be always at highest level
Potential and desire to develop knowledge, expertise and career further.
Planning daily and weekly tasks with farm manager and communicating this to the team
Effective communication from the team to management
Effective planning and troubleshooting on reaching de-plating, rack building, and tank cleaning targets to allow weekly settlement.
Accurate fulfilment of daily plans in conjunction with other departments
