Job Description

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a Group Lead: Energy, to join the Supply Chain team at CCBA. The role will report to the Group Head: Operations Sustainability.
CCBA is the 8th largest Coca-Cola authorised bottler in the world by revenue, and the largest on the continent. It accounts for over 40% of all Coca-Cola ready-to-drink beverages sold in Africa by volume. With over 14 000 employees in Africa, CCBA group services more than 800 000 customers with a host of international and local brands. CCBA group operates in 14 countries: South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Botswana, Zambia, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi and the islands of Comoros and Mayotte.
The role purpose is to enable long-term energy efficiency and carbon reduction across CCBA markets by leading strategy development, supporting operational execution, and building capability through innovative solutions, stakeholder alignment, and performance tracking.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Energy Optimisation Leadership: Provide expert guidance to CCBA markets on energy usage strategies, improvement plans, and adopting the The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) toolkit, fostering sustainable practices and long-term energy efficiency.
Strategic Energy Management: Develop and implement an enterprise-wide energy usage roadmap, aligning policies, reduction targets, and initiatives to achieve CCBA's 2030 carbon reduction goals.
Operational Excellence in Energy Use: Monitor and optimise energy usage processes, ensure adherence to operational controls, and evaluate maintenance programs to sustain efficiency across all CCBA plants.
Technology Advancement: Lead the development and procurement of innovative technologies and strategic projects, ensuring scalability and alignment with sustainability goals across CCBA operations.
Deployment and Execution: Manage the rollout of energy initiatives, collaborate with country teams, and address implementation challenges to drive consistent progress and adoption.
Performance Measurement: Establish and track metrics aligned with Science-Based Targets, leveraging tools for energy usage forecasting, analysis, and management reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain partnerships with internal teams, external communities, and regulatory bodies to align projects, address environmental compliance, and influence sustainable practices.
Capability Building: Drive the development of energy optimisation competencies across CCBA, ensuring leaders and technical teams are equipped to sustain performance improvements and meet future demands.
Skills, Experience & Education
Skills:
Strong analytical skills to assess energy usage and identify optimisation opportunities
Effective communication to influence stakeholders and drive adoption of initiatives
Advanced technical expertise in energy optimisation and sustainability practices
Leadership and coaching abilities to guide teams and build capability
Project management skills to ensure successful execution of strategies and solutions
Experience:
10 - 12 years in manufacturing departments in the beverages industry with a track record of deep technical understanding of energy optimisation techniques.
Experience working in the Sustainability domains is advantageous.
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in sciences or engineering (Polymer Science, Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering science)
