Job Description


Our client in the Auto-Electrical Engineering industry is currently looking for a Group Financial Manager, in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial leader of the organisation providing both operational and programmatic support to the group of companies.
  • Supervises the finance unit (accounting, finance, tax), and is the chief financial spokesperson for the organisation.
  • Reports directly to the Management Board (ManBo) and directly assists the Chief Operating Officer (COO) on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding.
  • To balance risk and reward to deliver secure, profitable growth.
  • Executive and Strategic Management:
  • Plan and implement growth strategy.
  • Plan and implement strategic acquisitions and mergers.
  • Plan and implement profitability strategy.
  • Enforce and actively practice a corporate governance ethos.
  • Oversee major business asset purchases.
  • Coordinate and Ensure Integrity of all Companiesxe2x80x99 Reporting by specific deadlines:
  • Local Company.
  • 3 Foreign Subsidiaries.
  • 3 Local Subsidiaries.
  • Management Accounts.
  • Cashflow.
  • Year End.
  • Consolidation.
  • Budgeting.
  • Management of 3 Branch accountants and development of their competencies. Constant Evaluation of:
  • Accounting Processes.
  • Statutory Return submissions and compliance.
  • TAX.
  • BEEE Audits and monitoring.
  • Adhoc Financial Functions and assistance in compiling Board Packs for Board Meetings.
  • Reporting on Debtors Cycle.
  • Report on Stock Turnover Cycle.
  • Reporting on Trade Payable Cycle.
  • Finance:
  • Financial analysis - analysis and reviewing of monthly P&L statements, balance sheets and cash flows in order to provide information needed to drive data-based decisions.
  • Formulate financial strategy.
  • Formulate tax strategy.
  • Formulate risk management strategy.
  • Accounting:
  • Cash management, budgeting, compliance, internal controls, corporate credit and collection, audit, financial planning and strategic planning.
  • Develop Budget and Financial Plans - provide the COO with an operating budget. Work with the COO to ensure programmatic success through cost analysis support, and compliance with all contractual and programmatic requirements. This includes:
  • Interpreting legislative rules and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Ensuring that all government regulations and requirements are disseminated to appropriate personnel.
  • Monitoring compliance.
  • Develop Internal Controls - develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization. Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and all compliance issues are as per above.
Requirements:
  • BCom Accounting.
  • Honours Degree in Accounting.
  • 3 years articles. Must be accredited SAICA/SAIPA.
  • ITC clearance.
  • 3-4 years post-articles experience, preferably in Retail Sector.
  • Operational driven, hands-on.
  • Forex Experience- Hedging.
  • Experience in Accounting in foreign currencies.
  • ERP Experience.
  • Statutory Returns.
  • Year End Audit experience.
  • Contracts.
  • Budgeting.
  • xe2x80x8bxe2x80x8bMust also be able to understand past financial performance in order to accurately predict the organisationxe2x80x99s financial future.
  • Must be able to evaluate and explain variances in reports, look beyond the numbers to see root cause, as well as the corrective actions needed.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in finance, administration, secretarial, commercial law, risk, sustainability, internal auditing and compliance.
