Job Description

1. Job Purpose

To create and assemble commercially strong artwork and images for briefs detailing styling, embellishment, and other design requirements for presentation to customers by the Fashion Merchandiser. To translate fashion trends into sellable product for major South African retail brands. To conduct research and source new ideas, trends, and products to inform design direction. To troubleshoot and assist with resolving lead time delays during the design process.

2. Key Result Areas

Delivery of 100% correct and accurate quality artwork (CAD) against briefs received. Clear, concise, and effective communication with all internal departments. Design lead times met consistently within a fast-paced retail environment. Timeous delivery of all artwork changes to support on-time order delivery.

3. Design Process

Prioritise briefs according to required delivery dates and production timelines. Manage the turnaround of artwork from receipt of brief within specified deadlines. Implement revisions and updates efficiently while maintaining quality standards.

4. Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience

National Certificate or Diploma in Graphic Design from a recognised institution. Minimum 5 years' graphic design experience, preferably within the fashion, clothing, or textile industry. Proven experience working with South African retail brands (non-negotiable). Strong fashion and commercial design sensibility. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Experience with CAD artwork essential. Ability to prioritise tasks, manage own workload, and meet tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail and ability to work calmly under pressure. Clear verbal and written communication skills. Strong listening, presentation, and decision-making skills. Experience or exposure to web design and other design programs will be an added advantage. A professional portfolio demonstrating relevant retail and fashion design work is required.
