Purpose of the role:
Divisional role reports to resource operations
Reports to technical dpt gives input into mapping, GIS and info that goes onto the maps
Input into the legal side in mining ops and projects section 102, 11, environmental assessments. Contact with DRE
SG compliant
Keep data up to date
Looks at title deeds, competitive applications over some areas, mining rights
Communicates with people inside and outside of company.
For all colleries needs good understanding of operations and projects
Work with data sets main software is microstation.
Jdore, ArcGIS. Working with google earth and general GIS software
Good relationship with external land surveys to sign off legal documents on plans and letters regarding mining rights and outlines
Minimum qualification/experience required
Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4)
Mine Survey Draughting Certificate
Relevant GIS Certification
Advantageous: Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP); CAD certification
Experience (SME)
Minimum of 3 years draughting experience, preferably in the mining or a related industry
Good experience in using CAD-based systems, preferably MicroStation, Jador and GIS systems.
Advantageous: Experience in GIS systems Technical Skills
Operations
Proficient knowledge of mining and other relevant legislation applicable to Thungela Resources incl.:
o Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, No 28 of 2002
o Mine Health and Safety Act, No 19 of 1996
o National Water Act, No 36 of 1998
Proficient knowledge of draughting standards/requirements, specifically in relation to surveying and geography.
Proficient knowledge of working with and analysing spatial data.
