Job Description

We are recruiting for a

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Developer

, who will be responsible for developing, customising, and maintaining GIS applications and solutions that enable spatial data visualisation, analysis, and integration.

Key responsibilities:

Design and develop custom GIS applications, plugins, and tools using platforms like ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, or open-source libraries. Build web-based GIS solutions using JavaScript APIs (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers, ArcGIS API for JavaScript). Integrate GIS with enterprise systems and databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial). Develop and maintain spatial data services (REST/SOAP APIs, WMS/WFS services). Write and optimise geospatial queries, scripts, and automation tools using Python, SQL, or JavaScript. Collaborate with GIS Analysts and stakeholders to translate spatial requirements into technical solutions. Perform system testing, debugging, documentation, and version control. Ensure application security, scalability, and performance optimization. Stay informed on the latest GIS technologies, frameworks, and best practices.

Minimum Technical Skills and Qualifications:

Diploma in GIS, Geoinformatics, Information Technology, or a related field. Must have a valid ESRI GIS Certification Minimum 6 - 10 years'+ experience with designing, developing and supporting geospatial GIS templates. Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Suite, QGIS, or equivalent platforms. Strong understanding of spatial data structures, geoprocessing tools, and coordinate systems. Experience with GPS tools, remote sensing, and spatial databases.

Essential Skills required:

Experience with GIS software and spatial data analysis. Hands-on experience with ESRI products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online) or open-source GIS tools. Experience managing the development of GIS Map templates and widgets, defining, designing and building of varied components of complex, distributed, high-performance web-based and mobile applications.
